LÏC

Acrylic, loudspeakers, electronics and water.
LÏC is an installation that approaches the visualization of sound signals in water. Sound is movement, audible and inaudible to our ears, invisible and visible to our eyes. Kinematics is the process that makes a sound signal visible. The transmission of vibrational signals in a fluid material returns visual patterns called Chladni figures. These patterns show that vibrations produce two-dimensional waves formed by nodes (regions of no vibration) and wombs (regions of maximum vibration). Water, among other materials, responds to an audio signal at certain frequencies and in a range of sound pressure with delicate patterns and complex patterns.
